Little Creators & Builders

July 22nd, 2019 to July 26th, 2019

What we are learning?

Dear Parents,
We hope you are having a good week. We continue learning and having so much fun in our Summer Camp. This week they will learn to be little Creators & Builders. They will continue using their creativity through flashcards and games.  We would like to share with you a list of activities children will engage through the week by day.
Monday

  • Social-emotional development: enjoy a puppet play “Para que sirven mis pies”. This play will help us approach the subject of gentle discipline regarding using feet to kick friends.
  • Language development: describe an animal toy.
  • Cognitive development: give a bath to the toy animal. 
  • Fine motor development: build towers with recycled boxes. 
  • Gross motor development: crawl, jump and walk following instructions given by the teacher. 

Tuesday

  • Social-emotional development: enjoy stories. 
  • Language development: listen to animal sounds while identifying the animal images. 
  • Cognitive development: do puzzles.  
  • Fine motor development: paint with crayolas.  
  • Gross motor development: push boxes of different sizes in the backyard.

Wednesday

  • Social-emotional development: enjoy a puppet play and stories. 
  • Language development: listen to animal sounds and mimic them.
  • Cognitive development: group objects by color.  
  • Fine motor development: create a painting using plastic bottles as painting rollers.  
  • Gross motor development: mimic animals moving.

Thursday

  • Social-emotional development: enjoy stories. 
  • Language development: listen to animal sounds and identify animals. 
  • Cognitive development: walk over a sensory field created by teachers with sensory elements.    
  • Fine motor development: paint with our feet.
  • Gross motor development: play bowling with recycled bottles.   

Friday

  • Social-emotional development: enjoy stories. 
  • Language development: listen to sounds in our environment.
  • Cognitive development: group objects by color.  
  • Fine motor development: play with homemade dough.  
  • Gross motor development: run through obstacles and do bicycling with the feet.

It will definitely be a fun learning week! Thank you again for letting us play such an important role in your child’s life and we hope you have a great weekend.

Materials for Weekly Activities

  • Bring your child’s favorite animal toy for Monday, July 22nd, 2019. It should be a plastic toy that can go in the water.
  • Bring an empty shoe box for Tuesday, July 23rd, 2019.
  • Donation of plastic bottles and plastic lids are welcome. If you have at home, please bring them on Monday.

  • Summer Craft Day from Wednesday, July 24th, 2019 to Friday, July 26th, 2019.

o    Friday - Recycled Lids

  • Splash Days on Thursdays from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.

Summer Camp Dress Code

  • Always keep in your child’s cubby a summer hat.
  • Have your child wear swimsuit, swim diapers and water shoes for Splash Day.
  • Make sure to send a towel and a tote bag for wet items. Label and pack all these items in the tote bag.

Friendly Reminders

  • Wash your hands and your child’s hands when entering your child’s classroom.
  • Make sure to wear shoe covers when entering classroom to drop your child.
  • Knock before entering the classroom to make sure there is no one behind the door
  • Read, review and fill out your child’s journal with information for the teacher.
  • Label all your child’s clothing and items and make sure that your child has extra set of clothing that is appropriate to weather in his/her cubby.
  • Make sure to remove clothing from the cubby and just leave one set of clothing.
  • Always store pacifiers in their packages.
  • Make sure to fill out an administration or authorization form specifying when bug spray, diaper cream and any other ointment should be applied and be sure to supply and label the items with your child's name and place them in a tote bag.
  • Bring diapers, wipes and rash ointment and label them with your child’s name when requested or needed.
  • Label all bottles and food that you bring to preschool for your child with your child’s name and the date it was prepared and place them in the refrigerator or counter. If you leave the lunch box in the counter, make sure to put ice packs inside the lunch box.
  • Inform the teacher if there has been a change in your child’s feeding schedule.
  • Do not bring your child to school if the child has a fever of over 101 F or any contagious conditions.
  • Apply sunscreen to your child every morning.
  • Make sure to keep in your child’s cubby a pair of glasses and a summer hat.
  • Sunscreen and mosquito repellent are important to protect your child because he/she is very susceptible to sunburn/mosquito bites. Yet applying sunscreen and mosquito repellent to your child requires planning. If sunscreen and mosquito repellent must be applied to your child, make sure to fill out an administration or authorization form specifying when sunscreen and mosquito repellent should be applied and be sure to supply the sunscreen and mosquito repellent, label the bottles with your child's name and place them in a tote bag.
  • Have your child wear swimsuit, splashers or swim diapers and water shoes for Splash Day. Make sure to send a towel and a tote bag for wet items. Label and pack all these items in the tote bag.
