Little Athletes

What we are learning?

Dear Parents,
We hope you are having a good week. We continue learning and having so much fun at our Summer Camp. This week they will learn to be little Athletes. Children will play games, participate in sports and burn some energy. We would like to share with you a list of activities children will engage through the week by day.
Monday

  • Social-emotional development: identify the emotion of being angry through games, stories and drama play.
  • Language development: mimic different faces of emotions while looking at a mirror.
  • Cognitive development: feel sensation while touching ice cubes and observe different sizes of balls while feeling their texture.
  • Fine motor development: play with beach balls.
  • Gross motor development: dance to the rhythm of music using scarves.

Tuesday

  • Social-emotional development: identify the emotion of being angry through games, stories and drama play.
  • Language development: listen to different sounds.
  • Cognitive development: observe the flashcards of red objects.
  • Fine motor development: play matching games.
  • Gross motor development: stamp feet while walking over a white flipchart.

Wednesday

  • Social-emotional development:  identify the emotion of being angry through games, stories and drama play.
  • Language development: play musical instruments.
  • Cognitive development: do puzzles.
  • Fine motor development: participate in fingerprinting.
  • Gross motor development: get massages in feet and hands.

Thursday

  • Social-emotional development: identify the emotion of being angry through games, stories and drama play.
  • Language development: listen to sounds from different objects.
  • Cognitive development: touch and feel balls of different sizes.
  • Fine motor development: throw little sandbags.
  • Gross motor development: crawl and push big buckets.

Friday

  • Participate in Sff! Olympics and Parade.

It will definitely be a fun learning week! Thank you again for letting us play such an important role in your child’s life and we hope you have a great weekend.


Holidays & Upcoming Events

  • Olympics Day on Friday, August 2nd, 2019.
  • Splash Days on Thursdays from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.

Summer Camp Dress Code

  • Wear sports clothes for Tuesday, July 30th, 2019.
  • Wear primary color t-shirt corresponding to your child’s classroom for Olympics Day.
  • Always keep in your child’s cubby a summer hat.
  • Have your child wear swimsuit, swim diapers and water shoes for Splash Day.
  • Make sure to send a towel and a tote bag for wet items. Label and pack all these items in the tote bag.

Friendly Reminders

  • Wash your hands and your child’s hands when entering your child’s classroom.
  • Make sure to wear shoe covers when entering the classroom to drop your child.
  • Knock before entering the classroom to make sure there is no one behind the door
  • Read, review and fill out your child’s journal with information for the teacher.
  • Label all your child’s clothing and items and make sure that your child has an extra set of clothing that is appropriate to weather in his/her cubby.
  • Make sure to remove clothing from the cubby and just leave one set of clothing.
  • Always store pacifiers in their packages.
  • Make sure to fill out an administration or authorization form specifying when bug spray, diaper cream, and any other ointment should be applied and be sure to supply and label the items with your child's name and place them in a tote bag.
  • Bring diapers, wipes and rash ointment and label them with your child’s name when requested or needed.
  • Label all bottles and food that you bring to preschool for your child with your child’s name and the date it was prepared and place them in the refrigerator or counter. If you leave the lunch box in the counter, make sure to put ice packs inside the lunch box.
  • Inform the teacher if there has been a change in your child’s feeding schedule.
  • Do not bring your child to school if the child has a fever of over 101F or any contagious conditions.
  • Apply sunscreen to your child every morning.
  • Make sure to keep in your child’s cubby a pair of glasses and a summer hat.
  • Sunscreen and mosquito repellant are important to protect your child because he/she is very susceptible to sunburn/mosquito bites. Yet applying sunscreen and mosquito repellent to your child requires planning. If sunscreen and mosquito repellent must be applied to your child, make sure to fill out an administration or authorization form specifying when sunscreen and mosquito repellant should be applied and be sure to supply the sunscreen and mosquito repellant, label the bottles with your child's name and place them in a tote bag.
  • Have your child wear swimsuit, splashers or swim diapers and water shoes for Splash Day. Make sure to send a towel and a tote bag for wet items. Label and pack all these items in the tote bag.
